Regional Sommelier of the Year, 2021

Western Australian Good Food Guide Awards

“Claire Tonon might oversee a list of just 30-or-so cuvées from a single-estate winery, but her skill is finding creativity in the limitations. Restricted to Voyager Estate wines, Tonon works with chef Santiago Fernandez to shape the menu from the drinks up, each seasonal degustation harmonised with a tightly selected collection of current vintage and cellared wines. The wines are analysed, the dishes created to match flavour, season and sense of place. The reverse engineering speaks of derring-do and originality, while Tonon’s presence on the floor, easy charm and leadership qualities set an example many could learn from.”

Hospitality Professional

Originally from Perth, Western Australia, I've worked in the wine industry and various other sectors, in diverse roles and regions,

building up an array of different experiences that range from events coordination to training,

from sales and customer experience management to administration and logistics.

My passion for wine encompasses all areas of the business from viticulture and winemaking through to education, hospitality and sales.

I continuously seek to grow my understanding of the world of wine, through work, travel, tasting and training, as well as to develop professionally, undertaking new roles and new tasks within those roles.
